When you buy the wrong size batteries!

So i don't manage to get out of the house much due to disability and when i do go out it has to be assisted (by my dad). As such battery buying tends to be an online thing as i'm almost never alone in a shop and my dad would insist on knowing what i needed size C batteries for!
Bought Some on Sunday, eagerly awaiting their arrival, they popped through the letterbox on Tuesday. Sadly my dad heard them come through and was all questions "What's this parcel for you?" "Have you ordered something?" "What's in it, it sounded really heavy?" Told him to mind his own business and he seems to have forgotten about it for now at least as he's preoccupied being terrified and anxious about the current weather (has a phobia of high winds)
I open them, just to realise i bought size D batteries by mistake! For the first time in over 6 months i've actually had some sex drive, just to be thwarted by bloody batteries. Now i have to buy some more and hope they come when my dad isn't first to the letterbox prodding and poking and asking what both packages were!

Can't you find something with those size battery's arpund the house and Just tell him they need replacing?

Size D batteries are good for those torches - Maybe find a torch that needs batteries!

To be honest, apart from the awkward sizes (ie LR1 or A23) - all batteries in our house are now rechargable. I find with rechargable they tend to not last as long, but we now always have charged up spares. If you find a "kit" that comes with C size, you could just be like "I needed some AAA batteries for my tv remote and the C's just came with it!"

Also - rechargable vibrators. Definately worth it! (Probably not great for you but...) I reviewed the Lelo Loki here: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=34253&reviewid=128835#customer_reviews I LOVE Lelo toys - they are super sexy and despite being over a year and a half old, the battery is still working great! (It does discharge through not being used though, which can be annoying!) http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/brands/lelo/

We do not recoomend using recharegeble batteries in our toys. The batteries can get lodged in the compartment due to a small size difference...

Rechargeable batteries are usually slightly bigger than regular batteries, meaning that they're more likely to get stuck or jammed in your favourite vibe. Also rechargeable batteries tend to produce less power, meaning not only will you experience weaker vibrations but you're more likely to run out of power at the critical moment!

Go careful with using these in sex toys...http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/sex/buyers-guide/lovehoney-guide-to-batteries/

Aw no that's so frustrating that they were the wrong size.
I would definitely look in to getting a rechargeable toy.
That way it's only 1 parcel delivery you would need to receive and you don't need to keep ordering batteries.

Leanne, Thanks for this - this is a great article that i was not aware of. I had no idea that standard battery sizes were non-standard - but this does explain why I've had a few batteries stuck inside the kid's toys!! Also, I would LOVE to see the solar powered toys that this article mentions!!!

Thinking about it the only standard battery toy that we currently have is a Jessica Rabbit 2.0 (Which takes 3 AA batteries off the top of my head) and this has been (so far) OK with rechargable.

VirginAngel, I would deffiantely taken on board what Leanne said about rechargable batteries though and look at the rechargable toys, many of which now charge from any standard USB style charger. (So no random chargers for your Dad to find). Good luck!

To add about regular batteries it's not just rechargables that can be slightly larger it's also the energizer silver coloured ultra/ultimate batteries and similar versions that can be slightly bigger i bought a cheaper brand pack and the batteries were just a little too large to fit in my ** EDITED ** vibrator

Sadly i can't use rechargeable batteries or toys, i have really severe OCD about germs, even if i bleached the toys after use they would be "contaminated" so i couldn't plug them in to my laptop etc to recharge without contaminating everything else. Also no privacy, i live/sleep in the living room, its open plan and my dad is forever wandering about so no way i could charge it anyway as he'd end up walking in and seeing it.
Only privacy i get is in the bathroom, i only use toys in the shower so would need waterproof. Something i'm majorly struggling with also as even the waterproof toys i buy and take care to make sure are properly sealed and tightly screwed shut water always seems to get in them. I've literally got just one that says waterproof that actually is, which happens to need the bloody size C batteries! The other has gotten water damaged within a few uses, can't return though as i didn't use them for months after buying and gone past the year time limit to return despite only using it 3 times.

VirginAngel, sounds like a real issue. First off - let me address the returns and hopefully a LH staff member can follow this up. The returns policy at LH is SUPER AMAZBALLS (Don't beleive me? Read it for yourself: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/help/returns-policy/). You have a year to return a toy, if its damaged or even if its not what you wanted.

The other thing is, I kinda remember watching the documentary about the LH Rabbit 2. I think I remember a scene where they were testing the rabbit under water and the design needed to pass this before it would be signed off. Perhaps someone else remembers this?

I have a bunch of RO80's (and one RO140). These have been 100% waterproof for me, and they have loads of silicone toys that these plug into http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/brands/rocks-off/ - although the range seems pretty slim on LH at the moment). The batteries are a lot smaller, so that may be more subtle in an envelope (but I'd buy a few!). REMOVED BY MODERATOR

Finally - have you thought about this? Its a lot more bathroom friendly! http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=1071 (I Rub My Duckie)
