I need some advice on trying anal with a new lover, who is larger than average and almost certainly larger than men from my past.

All u can do is practice. Get something in thats comfotable and work with that then go up in sizes. Maybe an inflattable dildo so u dont have to get lots of sizes. That and being relaxed and plenty of lube.

As said above :).
Start with a plug the girth and legnth you feel you can handle and just work your way up to thicker longer ones.
A good trick is to have your plug inside you for at least an hour before you plan to have sex, this will make it easier to take his cock. As we all know the uncomfortable part of anal sex is the first few full legnth thrusts, after that its comfortable and enjoyable. So, by having yourself already lubed and plugged for a while before hand you sort of skip the uncomfortable step because you have already stretched yourself out a bit. It wont make any difference to how tight your arse feels around his penis.

I like the idea of having it in before hahand. Being lubed and ready sounds like it will make it far more comfortable.
