My latest order has just arrived and I have my very first butt plug. My husband is at work so I thought I'd have a little practise around the house. Just got back from an exercise class so I'm wearing it under my gym stuff. I'm loving the awareness that something is in there all the time, that no one else knows about and the thought of opening up for him. I am new to them though so would really welcome any advice or suggestions.

I only use them for stimulation and not everyday use, so i am sure someone else will be able to help on that.
But they are great fun and do give an amazing feeling :) esp in clitoral play whilst they are in (they make the orgasm more intense I find).

Probably an oil based lube as it won't dry out as quickly as a water based one and you may need to reapply it every couple of hours or so but dont use huge amounts - you dont want your plug making an unexpected appearance ! I have a glass plug that is lovely and really comfy to wear for long periods of time and works fine with water or oil based lubes.
If your plug is silicone use a water based lube. We use the Lovehoney flavoured lubes for everything and have never any issues with toys, plugs etc :) x
Its best to use a lube which is designed for anal sex as it last longer due to the consistency.
Most lubes will be fine though as long as they are not flavoured or warming lubes.
If the butt plug is made of silicone then use a waterbased lubricant with it as silicone lubes can damage silicone toys.
It's a silicone one, may move on to others though. Which waterbased lube is best? How long can you keep the plug in for?
I use the Lovehoney own brand waterbased anal lube, it's great :)
The Lovehoney water based lubes are all great and will work just fine. The longest I have worn mine during the day is 8 hours but as you're just starting out I'd say an hour at a time would be good - you dont want to overdo things and make yourself uncomfy. You can build up the time if you want too over a period of time :) x

I have been considering buying a butt plug for some time but my "inner hygiene freak" says the only materials I would be brave enough to try anally would be metal and glass. All the glass ones seem to be a bit too big for a total newbie, and the smallest metal one (http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=30818) has such a small base... I guess I shall wait until something more "suitable" for slightly paranoid individuals like myself shows up...
