My BF and I have a great sex life and enjoy having a toy collection (thanks LH)! Lately, whilst checking out some porn, I have noticed these butt plugs with the little diamond in the base. I have never experimented with anal play at all, just never appealed to me, but I'm a little curious as to why they're used. Does it make things more pleasurable? Is it a lot of cleaning and prep involved? You hear such horror (and gross) stories regarding anal sex and play, that is really does put me off. But seeing these cute diamond butt plugs, it's making me wonder...

There are many reasons why people might use a plug.
1) It just feels good. I personally enjoy the 'full' feeling a good plug can provide.
2) If you are a guy, then the plug can help stimulate the prostate, which in turn makes masturbation and intercourse more pleasurable, which leads to stronger orgasms and firmer erections.
3) Some say that when a lady wears a plug, it makes the vaginal canal feel 'tighter'.
As for prep - well, in theory a minimal amount of cleaning down there will be sufficient for playing with a plug - and yes, sometimes accidents do happen - but you know, that's life. I bought my OH this for her birthday, she thinks it's adorable and it's a good size for a beginner because it is very small, no bigger than your thumb.

Oh! I didn't think of that. I guess that makes sense since they are pretty straight, rather than having a bulbous head like some of the other plugs. I'm not sure.. is that a good or a bad thing? On one hand, I guess it's a ways to ease myself into anal play, on the other hand, it pretty much means I wouldn't really be able to move around much unless I constantly clench my muscles.
