Collared!

Bit of a personal thread, but I wanted to share some news! My boyfriend took me out on Tuesday morning and surprised me by telling me he wanted to get me a proper collar - something we'd discussed before, but I had said that I wanted it to be special and mean something, not just for play.

So I bode my time and it totally paid off! I got a gorgeous plain solid silver chain in a vintage jewellery shop in town and I *adore* it. It's for wearing all the time, every day - but I've been taking it off for sleep cos I'm scared to break it :/

I know it probably seems a bit silly, but I'm totally chuffed. It feels great to wear something to symbolise our relationship in an open way that's still private, if that makes sense. And he's promised to make me a tag with "Pet" on it to add to the clasp to make it even more special :)

Here's a pic of my collar:

Anyone else got something like this? Or something special that represents your relationship?

Never seen anything like that. Glad your happy and comfortable. I had images of a collar type collar like http://tinyurl.com/2wk6g3f or http://tinyurl.com/35udv93

We have a yin yang type necklace like: http://tinyurl.com/399887z just nicer, real silver and without the best and friends part.

Have no idea why its going bold but it wont click off.

Well, the two pictured collars are sort of the ethos behind it, but we both really wanted something that I could wear 24/7 - sort of to show that I'm his 24/7, not just when we're in bed External Media

The YinYang idea is lovely! I actually picked this particular necklace because it's very similar to the one he wears all the time as well, it's nice to be matching :D

I get what you mean, thats a good idea, something you can wear out and about.

Thats really nice, we both wears ours all the time.

Sounds and looks lovely Shelly! I had the same problem yesterday MM?! Very strange!

That's not at all silly! It's a beautiful chain, and what it symbolises makes it all the more special. So lovely, thank you for sharing. x

Never been officially collared, but the closest was one partner got me a lovely necklace with a kiss-cross on it that he enjoyed seeing me wear, and I'd wear all the time because I knew when he saw it it pleased him, and when he wasn't there I'd always be reminded of him (I have a habit of playing with anything around my neck without even thinking about it). When it ended, I couldn't wear the necklace.

Now I have another necklace that my dad got me for Christmas just a few weeks before he died, and I wear it to remind me of him. Having gone through a period where i'd been badly hurt, it's good to have a physical token from the only person who loved me from the moment I was born until he died.

Hopefully one day I'll find someone I can give myself to like that, but until then it's very healing to hear of people who have found theirs. All the best, and enjoy your happiness, don't worry about sounding silly, it's perfectly beautiful.

I too assumed you meant collar as in pet collar!

I think it's very nice and certainly unlikely to bring suspicious glances.

I have a ring off Ad, only piece of jewellery I wear.

Looks lovely doll, glad you're so made up about it

I'm hoping Mr McP will get me a kitty collar for my birthday, or at least let me choose one... he's been saying he wants to get me one, which I would love!

I want something quite ornate i think, with a bow and bell, something for special occasions, not everyday like your collar :-) Something like the collars from this website I think: http://www.kittencream.com/index2.html

Aww, that's a lovely thing to say, thank you!

Kitty, those collars are adorable, love the bells and bows!

Thanks for all the kind words folks, glad to be able to talk to people about it!

I like the look of lace chokers, they could mean the same thing.

Shelly, your collar is beautiful and just collar-y enough to look like a collar to those who no, and pretty enough to look like just plain silver!

I have two things from WandA - my ring that he bought me 4 ish years ago and I've worn every day since (apart from about 4 or 5 days) - it's basically this with pink CZ http://www.hsamuel.co.uk/webstore/d/4368916/9ct+white+gold+cubic+zirconia+ring/ and now, my engagement ring http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Y2qFTlvMf6U/TC6RdVq7SJI/AAAAAAAAAAo/omu-R9X6AHY/s1600/ring.jpg

Another "special thing that symbolises" our relationship is a beautiful pen WandA bought me when we'd been together 6 months - http://www.penbox.co.uk/so.rainbow.prelude.htm (the ballpoint one). It's really special and unique and will last a lifetime!

They are very beautiful things. Is that your engagement ring?

The pen is also engraved with my name and his - that's the main reason it's so special to me, also because it's a quirky colour and a really thoughtful gift because it showed just how well he knew me!

The last (quick) things to mention are a beautiful crystal cross he bought me before I turned heathen (:P) and a cut out St. Christopher that were incredibly thoughtful at the time. Though I no longer wear them, I do keep them and will hang them up somewhere in the future.

The middle link is my engagement ring yes :)

There's a photo on my FB of it on my hand but wasn't sure how to link that as my security is high.

Answering in chat thread don't want to derail Shelly's thread any more than it already is (sorry Shelly )

Sorry shelly

This sounds really interesting as a subtle way of carrying over intimate aspects of one's relationship in which it is entirely socially acceptable, unnoticeable, unless one understands the significance and intent behind the gift. I like it, although I shall now be analysing the potential implications of people's jewellry for weeks....
