I only have one realistic dildo (and that is the colourful Vixen) because anything realistic puts me off really. The appeal for me is that it's as close to the real thing. I am happily single but of course miss intercourse. I don't like the look of coloured dildos too much. I would find it odd to masturbate with something luminous in colour. I don't find the idea arousing and certainly wouldn't feel more aroused with it up close.
