I done some digging into this Gor kink stuff to which Iāve never heard of before and still not sure what it is other than a fantasy kingdom of swords and sorcery, plus a photo of some ladyās legs in fishnets up against a man in a suit showed up
But I did stumble across this somewhat enlightening article from west word about different unknown kink terms and to say the least some of them kinda made my eyes water! Iām talking Cell popping, Figging and Roman showersā¦
The short, over simplified answer to what is Gor is that it is high protocol, ritual heavy Master/slave dynamics with specific gender roles (ie men are considered dominant, women submissive).
As for the West Word article, what a bizarre grouping of definitions. Sure cell popping and Roman showers are more out there and probably something many werenāt aware of, but what have jerkoffs, your mother, white knights and ecstasy got to do with kink? Odd.
I did have to have a Google of Gor after it was mentioned in the other thread. The Wikipedia article was quite informative especially the Subculture section where it seems in the original fiction less than 5% of the planetās female population fit into this extreme submisive slave category and yet, obviously, thatās the bit the kink has focussed on. If the Wikipedia article is correct, itās also quite disturbing that it seems particularly popular online with teenage boys. Itās not for me but each to their own in their own real life adult relationships. The anonymous online underage stuff seemed very wrong though.
Amusing West Word article though. I think the author was struggling towards the end of the alphabet! A lot I knew but, Roman Showers, that was definitely a new one to me! I mean itās happened to me once when a friend at Uni drank way to much and I ended up in the holding hair back, sadly inside splash zone rangeā¦ canāt say I found it a turn on in any way!
As a kinkster of 17+ years Iāve ruled the Gorean lifestyle out too; it is far, far too extreme for me. The Book Of Gor was never meant to be lived as a lifestyle, it was supposed to be a work of fiction only. Of course, just like that Slave Leia scene in Star Wars, some people took inspiration from it.

Good on ya @AJSTAR for taking the time to research it. Certainly not my thing but you also mentioned figging which does fit in my fun category. I just felt really uncomfortable being around the two couples I met that practised Gor.

There has to be a line drawn somewhere, whether it be legality (in your jurisdiction) or health and safety issues but I canāt help wonder if those into these fringe activities view the rest of us the same way 100% vanilla would consider much of what is posted on this message board. There is no clear line drawn on what is acceptable and what isnāt even if it crosses legal or health issues.
I was very young the first time I saw it but I remember even back then feeling some pull to it. I like objectification and Iād be a liar if I said Iād never be tempted to draw inspiration from that scene, but it does give me a bit of the ick to know that the actor in the scene wasnāt comfortable with it.
So (and please excuse my ignorance), is there a female version of Gor, other than FML or hardcore femdom? Or would that be something stereotypical like āAmazonā which has been gender-reversed?
