I second the advice above to try othe lubes - I've also found Durex brand ones to go sticky and dry quickly. There are lots of useful reviews on the site here.

Have you thought about trying using toys on all fours while you can see your oh either with him using the toy or getting a suction cup dildo that's stuck to a wall. That way you can get a feel for what its like on all fours without the worry of not being able to see your oh or being out of control.
