Ties and scarves are still too expensive! Start cheaper!!! External Media (Not only will they crease, but you'll cry if you pull the knot too tight and have to cut your way out of your favourite one!)
Use bathrobe belts or stockings (very nice!) for a soft, cheap restraint that's expedable, or you can restrict someone's arms by partially removing a t-shirt or shirt. I'm sure between you you can think of more! This sort of thing will probably feel like an extension of your "normal" foreplay, so doesn't come across as scary, but should still tell you whether this type of play is your cup of tea.
