Hi and low of male sex drive

I am 62…I wondered if any forum member experienced significant peaks and lows in their sex drive.
Sometimes ( not that often) I can feel very low in vitality sexually speaking, but then later the next week i can be as horny as hell and cant stop thinking about sex.
Do any other male members get this and do you think it is a drop in testosterone and then a sudden rush of testosterone.?
When i get this rush i am wakening with a rock hard erection and when feeling low , can feel quite limp, which isnt much fun.

I wasn’t born male, but I do have a husband. I know his drive has peaks and lows. Seems work-related, actually. Sometimes he’s really tired and while he’ll have sex with me, I can tell its mostly for me rather than for him. And other times, he’ll catch me as soon as he gets home and pump me full almost immediately.

And from what I’ve heard, guys also have a kind of monthly cycle. Obviously not like women do, but hormonally they’ve got highs and lows just as a part of nature.

@awkward-yet-sweet … thank you. Interesting to hear another perspective. The highs and lows must be as you say.

I unfortunately never wake with a hard on! I do wonder if I have low testosterone. I do suffer with ED but have many other issues as well. Its no fun getting old.

@steve19 . I dont know what age you are, but if you arent getting any help with the,ED , there is assistance available. Have a word with your Doc if you haven’t already.
I think knowing you can still get a solid erection, can be good for your morale, so dont just accept it.

Get tested.

I started suffering for ED in my early 60’s and got checked very quickly. My testosterone was well below the normal range. I was prescribed Testogel to restore my testosterone level and Sildanafil (Viagra) to restore my confidence (and my erections) until my testosterone levels stabilised.

I’m 72 now and everything is working fine.

As an added bonus, because the testosterone can boost prostate activity I get 6 monthly PSA and testosterone checks.

Thank you @Iwill and @rockstar I am due to see clinicians next week for a Heart check as had Heart attack about 5 years ago, everything ok re that but I know they were not too happy about viaga. I never pushed the subject but will do next week. I think the ED has effected my mental state a little.

Viagra was originally designed as heart medication, the ED aspect was a side effect that proved very profitable for Phizer.
There are other similar meds that can help ED…Perhaps ask about alternatives.
If i am planning a night out with potentially more than a few drinks, i take Tadalafill as a precaution , which lasts for 36 hours.

The viagra was a secondary treatment. The testosterone replacement medication is what is doing the job

Yes I know exactly what you mean and think very much the same in that it’s testosterone related but I often just describe it as a man’s time of the month type of thing lol :joy:

@AJSTAR … with me it can be quite, random…i felt like that last week, but now im like Cato jumping on Inspector Clouseau, when my wife walks in to the house.!!

I’m 64 now and over the last few years have noticed a change in my sex drive. Had a lot go on, retired, bought a house with my new partner who has also stopped working also etc etc. There is never just one thing going on in your lives.

Most confusing thing is I have the sexual thoughts, do get a slight feeling in the genitals but dont get a erection like i used to. Does my head in some days, OH is sympathetic about it when i discuss it with her.

If we make the decision to have sex, a small amount of foreplay and its all good. Just that it reduces those time i would initiate sex purely by rubbing my erection against her.

If it gets any worse I’ll see the Doctor about it but at this stage I’m seeing it mainly as age related.

My issue is probably more with being too horny.
My wife and I rekindled our sex life in the last few years - it’s not a very high frequency but it is bloody good (in my mind anyhow)
The result is that I spend a lot of time thinking about various sex things that have burned a permanent image into my mind; her in lingerie, using toys, teasing my cock, playing with her pussy …
Quite frankly I’d like a bit of time off where I just forgot about it and got on with my life!

Id still look in to it incase there is anythingelse happening…we all will loose some ability.
Ive been told doing weights exercises helps boost testosterone. So keep the muscle tone up and the pecker keeps up also

Hey!!! Dont knock it…use it or loose it.:joy:

Don’t just dismiss it as age related. It may be easily treatable.

Interesting image to paint! :rofl::joy::rofl:

:joy: and the reply is similar " Not now Cato"

hey @Iwill I have done some research on this.
mens T levels do vary throughout the day peaking around 8 am and the lowest around 8pm. the delta between peaks and vallys are more pronounced in men under 40 yrs old. Us old guys, the peaks are no longer as high as they once were. I’m not sure the levels change much day to day tho…perhaps they could be driven by physical activity? I do know that leg day at the gym will boost this, building and activating large muscle groups triggers more T. I’ve read that hormone replacement will bring back morning wood at nearly any age.

@Nvravrg69 . I do regular exercise including weight training. The low feeling i get is very periodic and doesnt last long.
It is just really interesting to hear other experiences to get an over all understanding of aging and the effects on hormones and obviously sex drive.
