For the future you can check the sizing by looking at the description. Thats one thing that I really love about Lovehoney as lots of sex toy companies do not state the dimensions of toys.
If you relax and use plenty of lube, you will most probally be able to use it. If it feels uncomfortable I wouldnt recommend to carry on using it though as you could harm your body.

I read the description, and it measures at 5 and a half inches. This may not sound like a lot, but I haven't used one before, and it is quite thick. I think my problem is that I'm nervous to try it and worried it'll hurt as it enters me. I'm sure this is something I'll overcome though

As people have said, relax and don't rush. If you can't take it then don't worry and try and force things. It's better to try again later than rush and put yourself off the toy permanently. I got a suction cup version of that toy in pink as the second sex toy i bought the size was a bit overwhelming at first even with copious amounts of lube and getting myself warmed up it wasn't very willing to go in. What i found with that toy and all toys of that sort of girth or bigger is to straddle it girl on top style well lubed (just make sure you hold on to any toy that doesn't have a suction cup) it will go in a lot easier then you can transition to any position you like after and continue using it. If it's made by the same brand as mine the vibrations wont be great
