Im still here

Hiya @zombifiedguy

It’s hard when you are down to get back up again…I know I have lived it…like lots of other members too.

The fact that you recognize how you are feeling and coming on here to express that is a massive step.

Take more small steps…pop out for a walk…make conversation with people. There will be others who are feeling down out there too. Covid hasn’t helped…many have been shut in seeing no-one and we all need a change of scenery.

I know we are all virtual friends on here…we are here for you though…remember that.

You DO matter @zombifiedguy

Take those extra small steps today.

You’ve got this.

Don’t look back on wasted times @zombifiedguy that is negative and you can’t change that.

What you can do everyday is try…and although you won’t want to somedays… push yourself…and you’ll be so glad that you did. You can work and fit things in…but you have to push yourself to want to.

Small steps…small changes.

Keep on top of it.

You’ve got this.

Hello @zombifiedguy i have been where you are many years ago, and trust me you can get better. I remember you saying you have or have access to a dog? It’s a lovely sunny day, take them a walk, the sunshine will do you good, it’s a proven mood lifter, on the walk you may meet other dog walkers who will always chat, or just other members of the public. I often see the same faces on my dog walks and even if it’s a brief “hello” it DOES lift your spirits.
Also, cuddle and play with the dog, just that can cheer you up! My dog is constantly at my side, either leaning against me, or lying between my legs.
I know this post might seem dog-centric, but it’s an easy thing you can do immediately and it costs nothing.
Just know us forum members are here for you at all hours of the day, so you can always find friendly company here. :slightly_smiling_face:

Fresh air and exercise help me when i have bad days.
Finding your self a goal too. Even if its just something small.

Trying new things too helps. Like cooking a new kind of food, going for a walk somewhere you havent been before. Joining a club or trying an activity youve never done before now. Like making a point of working out, doing yoga or going swimming twice a week or something. Volunteering at a charity (for example, animal rescue places always need people)
Learning an instrument, hiking round your local area in stages, learning how to do origami or sketch or something creative. Take up mindfulness or meditation can also help alot too.

Online gaming or playing d&d online with friends are great way to socialise too if your stuck. They’ve been a lifesaver for me during this current mess. I have a great gang on mates i met through roll20

Like @CurvyJilly said, try to not dwell on the past. I have to remind myself of this all the time as its so easy to slip in to negative spirals of doing this. But forward momentum is really important and looking back doesn’t help that.
Its the hardest thing. But learning from our mistakes, then letting them go is really important.
I struggle with this soo, but looking forward is much more productive. Even if its just looking forward to small things.

I suffer with depression and I find that getting out of bed and going to the gym or some sort of physical exercise helps me. Also just goingbfor a walk and chatting to people butvwhat is important that you recognise the problem and talk about it

Just walking into town to see if i can get my haircut. Maybe have lunch and a beverage while i have a little brainstorm and work out some things.

I was going to buy a nintendo switch but was so indecisive that it sold out in one place lol.

That’s defo not gonna help much when you need to try get motivation back in swing  kinda sounds like your in need of a new hobby or something that can give you a reason to leave house and socialise too for making some new friends…
What do you enjoy doing and is there any social groups near to you that can interest you?

I’d defo give you a big hug right about now

How you feeling today? The sun is shining where i am in The Midlands, hopefully you can get out and have a nice walk.
This time of year can bring people down cos of the dingy weather. A lot of people suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, and sunlight really does help.
Sorry you missed out on the Switch, but can you treat yourself to small daily treats? Even if it’s just a bar of chocolate, anything that you enjoy?
Above all, try to focus on the positives in your life, not the negatives.
You know there’s always someone around here if you need company or support. :slightly_smiling_face:

Damn that really sucks… have you ever considered wanting to learn to drive and getting a car?

I have passed my test but cost of driving just seems to go through the roof

To start with it does but there are many ways to navigate around the costs like getting a low emissions car, black box helps bring insurance down along with taking a drivers plus test, and have your seasonal service so it’ll defo pass the mot tests.

I’ve got a Suzuki splash and it’s literally an amazing car for me and so reliable :slightly_smiling_face:

@zombifiedguy hey just thought I would pop on with some tips am using at the moment. I don’t have a license right now but I am working on getting one. Even when I do get one I won’t be able to buy my own car. As like you said it’s an expense I can’t afford right now. Hopefully I can borrow my mums car when she isn’t using it. I live in a small town as well so can be hard to get to events I want to go to.

For now i have been really enjoying going to the gym most days after work. Although sometimes I can’t be bothered I know once I get there and get going it always makes me feel better.

Music is a major help at the moment. Been loving acoustic versions. Also started to write some of my own. It helps to get all my thoughts out and stops me from overthinking to much.

Rewatching shows I love gives me some comfort currently watching Big Bang theory and suits.

I also have a dog which is a big help. She gets me out of bed in the morning when am not working. Dogs really are get companions.

I always write a to do list for the day/week that way one I don’t forget important things and two I like to feel productive and it helps me to actually get things done.

Hope your having a better day today.

All good suggestions, exercise releases endorphins so does help lift your mood, just stroking a pet can be extremely helpful, dog cat, rabbitt etc. Watching a favourite tv programme, film listening to favourite music all good ideas. Some of my mood lifting songs i will play on repeate a few times in a row. Taking part in discussions and games here is great too.
