Over the years we've tried plenty of lubes from water based containing glycerin, to anal lubes that really ought to just say 'vaseline' on the tub and finally settled on Liquid Silk (we did have a brief flirt with Sliquid) as our all purpose, do anything lube!
However, you may or may not know (other thread) that Mrs SXE has been having plenty of problems and is currently on a 30 day course of anti-biotics, this means condoms for us. We have a bit of a size compatibility issue so like usual we've been making sure to use plenty of lube.
The problem is, lube has started stinging her and generally being quite uncomfortable so we've had to stop using it and we're really struggling without it! I think as we've both become increasingly busy we've started relying on it too much for sex anywayas a bit of a shortcut but without it we're really struggling to make things wet enough, even after a headboard destroying oral session...
Have you tried KY jelly? It's the most neutral water based lube I know of.
It may not be the lube in general but just that you need to find one that doesn't affect your partner at this time. I don't see anything wrong with relying on lubrication- it helps so much!
And there's nothing wrong with relying on lube - I'd never have sex without it due to dryness issues and (similar to yourselves) size compatability issues!

Not very helpfull, but if I get irritated back there for whatever reason then lube in general can be stingy, even sliquid, which is basically just water and celulose.
Might be worth working out if it's something going on internally rather than your lube.
OK, I don't know what the rules are about recommending non-LH products; but since you're having problems with other brands I hope I'll be forgiven if I'm breaking any rules.
There's a brand called "Yes" which markets itself as all natural, no nasty ingredients etc lube. I've tried it and while I love the fact that it contains no nasties (I cannot tolerate certain chemicals so I have to be careful what I use), it is a bit gloopy. It doesn't sting though and I don't have to use too much of it at any time so it might work for you.

Had to google diazolidinyl urea in the ingrediants though, don't fancy anything that contains the word urea in it! Although it's relaly just an antimicrobial preservative. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diazolidinyl_urea
I think the majority of condoms still have latex. It's a good point though. Some people can have a very mild latex allergy. You get the poor buggers who can't touch latex without their skin going mental, but some people just find it mildly irritating. I'd think that it could be possible to have a reaction on delicate tissue yet be fine on skin. Might be worth checking.
The latex allergy had popped into my head but it somehow escaped, hows it tested? Some jelly toys seem to have the same kind of stinging sensation sometimes as well (most noticeably a Doc J Ballsy [non UR3])!

Any that contain Glycerin or Propylene Glycol are non starters unfortunately.
I think we're both fairly convinced its not the lube that is the direct problem anyway.
Alicia (and others) do you not find that lube can sometimes be used as a bit of a shortcut around Forplay (sometimes in a good way but others not so much)? We certainly didn't start using it in our relationship, at times throughout its made things easier but it seems we're fairly reliant on it these days (we're still both fairly young!)

I'm young - 20. I'm bone dry. No matter how much foreplay. It's an area of insecurity but there's very little I can do about it. If lube enables me then I won't feel bad about using it (it's taken me long enough to realise I'm not a failure as a woman because sex is difficult). Frustratingly - I can get wet but there's absolutely no pattern - I can have amazing foreplay and be bone dry, non at all and be much wetter. It's so variable (and rare anyway) that it's not worth getting het up over.
I don't see the sense in putting more pressure on myself by worrying about if I'm reliant or not - it's revolutionised my sex life.
Having said that - there's no change there for me, it's just me, just the way I am. If something has changed then there may be a reason for that.Definitely agree that if there's increased sensitivity to lube it's worth seeing a doc.
As far as I'm aware "jelly" is just a catch all name that has no *specific* ingredients attached to it - therefore you don't really know what's in the toy - I'd steer clear. And again - the material on that link just says "skin safe rubber" not what the composition is. Doc Johnson's very own Sil-a-gel fomula could be anything

Sil-A-Gel is antibacterial.....apparently.

You can have sensitivities to other things though. You may be sensitive to one of the ingredients in the jelly toys.
If you're only sensitive with jelly toys then I'd say that's the reason. If you're sensitive during sex but only with condoms or only with lube then there may be something in the condoms/lube that is the same as the ingredient in the jelly product.
you haven't changed brands of condoms you are using?
