Packaging Feedback - We need you!

I do like the Lovehoney packaging, although the no frills approach of the Mantric toys with the plain brown cardboard would definitely be my preference. Also a box that you can reuse to store the toy would be a big bonus for me.

I usually discard any boxes with pictures on the outside and then store the toy in a drawstring bag, but having a nice box to store it in would be a lot better. A plain card box with just the LoveHoney logo as someone else mentioned would be great. Despite plain card being "no frills" it actually gives the impression of quality to me. I have bought expensive items from the high street that use plain packaging and just a simple logo.

It doesn't even have to be plain card, a simple black or coloured box with a contrasting logo, like black/silver would look good.

I do recycle the boxes, but I rip them up to small pieces so that you can't tell what was inside the box. One slight annoyance with the LoveHoney boxes is that they're coated with a tough plastic film that makes ripping the card a challenge.

I guess in a store you need to see the picture of the item on the box because that is all you have to go on as you're just seeing a product on a shelf, but online you have lots of pictures and even videos to know exactly what you're buying. Hope this is helps

I'm a total box/packaging nerd. Love the stuff. Love Honey own brand packaging is fabulous even with the images as it's never smutty. I despise some of the other companies packaging. The half naked models, ick! Mantric packaging is freaking stunning, love it! High end ones are unbeatable but that adds to the cost. If I don't want anyone to see what's in the bin I just tear the box and fold it inside out.

I think the current packaging is fair enough to protect the toy and discreet also .... maybe if it’s a gift and people want nicer packaging give them the option of a gift wrap box or plain packaging when paying for the items....then people can decide themselves if they want plain boxes or nicer packaging

Happy hump day Leanne ! I'm totally happy to put any packaging in my recycle bin no matter what the picture on the box, maybe under something else in the bin in case a family member sees it. I did have a recycle bin blow over years ago resulting in some toy boxes in a neighbours garden. My favourite sort of packaging is a ' posh look' maybe matt black on the outside with the love honey logo in gloss black with product name but with the Velcro door you can open to see the product through a clear window. The hygienic non opened stickers are good too , to show no one else has used or tampered. Obviously for basic cheaper lines I think a standard recyclable box is fine.

Also , I love the love honey heart logo! It's a cool design and to me a stamp of quality xx

I am going to start this by saying that I live with just my partner so once the package has been delivered, discretion isn't much of an issue. If I am putting cardboard on for recycling and I think it could be seen, I tend to tuck it inside another box or fold it inside out.

I really like Lovehoney's packaging. There is some really awful sex toy packaging still out there so anything that doesn't have essentially pornographic imagery on it is a win. But I really like the simplicity of Lovehoney's packaging. it kind of reminds me of the sort of box you get homeware in. Which to me kind of normalises sex toys, which I think is a good thing. I do like the Mantric design, but I do think too much plain packaging does kind of suggest sex toys are something shameful or something that should be hidden away and not discussed.

As for online vs high street, I do expect the same packaging experience. To me, the packaging is my first impression of a product, so if the packaging is crummy, thats going to potentially cloud my view of the toy. Although, I can understand (and support) an online company feeling that packaging that shows the actual toy through a window in the box (like Lelo) is a bit of a waste of time.

Completely agree with this post!

I have absolutely no issues with the packaging, I love the simplicity of the Mantric packaging but our favourite is the Desire. We recycle our packaging inside the plain brown box that it comes in so no one would be any of the wiser.

I like the current packaging. For me the image on the box/packet is important especially with lingerie, helps me see where everything should sit (especially with straps ect). And I like the cheeky blurb on the back of some items too. I don't really mind who sees the packaging and it's easily ripped up/pulped/burned anyway. The boxes can be a bit ott for the size of orders though, especially recently I've found I've received large boxes for smaller items. I think sometimes plain packaging can seem more "expensive/luxurious" where's as image led feels more fun.

However, a lot of our packaging comes with images of the products on the front. Is that something that concerns you?

I wouldn't say it concerns me per say, but I would prefer if it wasn't there. We see brilliant photos on the site as it is and I tend to scrutenize them before making a purchase, the photo on the box isn't really needed at the point it arrives. I don't feel it adds anything nut it certainly raises awkwardness if someone else in the family spies the box!

Are you happy to recycle the cardboard packaging or are you a 'in the bottom of the bin - out of sight' person?

We tend to shred it all or put it inside something else in the recycle bin, don't want to make the bin men feel uncomortable.

What impression does our packaging give of the Lovehoney brand?

Depends on the packaging. The Desire range looks like a premium brand, the plain white boxes with the product image and coloured font look and feel a bit cheap. I think the plain brown boxes on Mantric give a more premium look despite being plainer.

Do you prefer packaging that has a considered design(ie Lovehoney or Thrust) or do you prefer the no-frills approach of brands like Mantric?

Mantric is nicer overall. I'd be happy to have the toy arrive in a case rather than a box, something similar to the new subscription boxes. Thinking of the Desire range, the cardboard sleeve goes straight to recycling anyway I wouldn't miss it if shipping was possible without it.

When purchasing online. do you expect the same packaging experience that you would receive when shopping in teh high street?

No, not at all. A certain rainforest retailer uses 'frustration free' packaging and that's the kind of thing I expect. Minimal packaging to get it from warehouse through the postal system with no damage. I don't expect an attention grabbing retail packaging style, it isn't on a shelf and it doesn't need to grab my attention once I've already bought it. If that makes sense!

Ok I like the Lovehoney packaging but again as many have said it tends to be a bottom of the bin job. I like the idea of the purple with just the Lovehoney heart on it or maybe to please those who like imagery and an equal to the high street experience then maybe cut out In the box to show off the contents. It’s a simple way to get a high end look without having to print images and writing on the boxes themselves thus allowing us all to recycle much more.

Some nerd packaging would be cool too, like vintage Star Wars style but with sex products lol

As far as I'm concerned the packaging is fine. It is discreet and if your postman knows it from Lovehoney it's because he's a customer too.

I don't have any issues with popping packaging with pictures in the recycling bin although I have seen the bin man check the bin and give a grin before emptying it 😀

I'm not one for fancy packaging.....and prefer something simple. The thing I have issues with are those snap together clear plastic affairs that are obviously designed to hang up in shops. These look extremely cheap and nasty. And they're a nightmare to open.

I'm on the 'less packaging' bandwagon. For instance I recently received an order with was in a clear bag and then in a box with paper stuffed around it for padding. I'm certain it would have been just fine in a jiffy type of bag xx

Hi Leanne, I would only echo what has already been said before on the toy packaging. Tbh the plain boxes you use for shipping are great too. The one thing I wanted to mention was not necessarily the toy packaging but the lingerie. To add a little more of a luxury feel it would be great to have the sets either tissue wrapped or even in little pouches for safekeeping and discretion. I would buy the lingerie pouches for storing my sets in and keeping all the bits together. 😊 Thanks Becky

I’ve mentioned this in a review but will say here to. Feel some of the lovehoney lingerie is bad quality packaging. Some of the lingerie which is undoubtedly luxury comes in plastic bags with limited to no marketing etc. Feel for the luxury of the products, they should have luxury packaging :)

Postage box HAS to be discretion for me. If it were to change or advertise where it's came from, I'd stop buying till I had my own place. The items which are inside with their own boxes..Well I'm not bothered, I told them up and put them in other boxes or burn them to be honest.

I do like to try to do my bit for the planet, so I prefer cardboard packaging that can easily be recycled. A lot of plastic packaging and polystyrene is just not recyleable. So for me cardboard outer to protect the product and paper tissue inside to cussion the item, for maximum recycling ability.

Personally I don't give a monkeys weather people see me sex toy packaging in my bin, but if it bothers you just break the box flat, fold it picture inside and put it inside a cereal box or something similar.

I like a classy looking packaging, that doesn't mean it has to be expensive. Subtle and not too graphic, ideally with a blank or patterned side to the box that can be displayed without drawing attention to it.

I think that it’s perfect the way you do it now in just ordinary boxes because for example if you got it delivered at your parents house etc they don’t know what it or will be and it just gives you chance to keep that side of your life hidden from those who shouldn’t see that, also if you order many things and comes at different times me and my partner out bets on what it’s going to be lol, but however you could design the box but construct it inside out meaning the inside would be purple and white with the little heart on there!

I think your packaging is all good on most items and the simplistic style actually adds more class! For me living with parents at the mo I would definitely benefit better by not having images of toys and stuff on the packaging just to avoid any awkwardness haha but if I was in my own place then I’d not mind imagery at all 😉

I think the boxes and envelopes you ship out the orders in are very discreet. Can't think of a way to make them even more discreet, actually! It's definitely a huge plus that it doesn't sa it's from ''Lovehoney'' in the sender's address.

Although I can sadly not recycle as much as I'd like, I reuse the boxes, the paper sheets and even the sticker with the ordered items. I have friends and family abroad, so I use the cardboard boxes when sending them packages (if they only knew, haha!) I use the paper to wrap smaller things I want to send. I've also drawn sprinkles on it and used it as gift wrapping paper - so cute! I also use the white parts of the stickers to mark and sort my toys' USB cables. I just write the toy's name on the sticker, then stick it on the correspondind cable.

When it comes to LH products, I'm overall very happy with the packaging. Most of the times it looks very professional and better than what one would expect for that price. However, it has happened a coupld of times that the toy was in a box and then in two plastic bags. That felt unnecessary, but it might have been tester products (sorry, can't remember!)

Thanks for the opportunity to comment,

The packaging you use currently is great and makes me feel comfortable to keep ordering all products. Plain outer packaging but detailed inner packaging to advertise the product within which is good, these boxes either stay in the bedroom or are disposed of in the fire so everything absolutely fine at the moment, thanks.
