For positions, there are several we use. We started with him face down on the bed. We also do "diaper position" (ie him on his back, with his legs up in the air and her in front of him coming in from the back).Then there is bent over the arm of the settee, or up against a wall (facing the wall). That last one gets very deep.
As for technique, build up slowly. Once we progressed onto larger strap-ons, we still use a smaller one to start, and then switch over. to larger ones. In the early days, be gentle when you start, small movements until the dildo is all the way in, then you can slowly increase the amount of travel and the power. Obviously, the more experience you have, the more you'll work out what you like.

I agree that warming up and using enough lube are very important. The position I've found works best for the first time(s) is her lying on her back and you riding her. The wearer can't really feel what their ''penis'' is doing, so it's better for the one being pegged to have full control over the angle, depth, pace etc. Doggy can also work well for first-timers (and there's absolutely no problem in case she's shorter than you).

Which strapon have you ordered? Although I don't have this harness, it looks pretty comfortable (given it has padding on the back of the waist)!

Most important is make sure your eyes aren’t bigger than your... anyway. Know your limits! Take it slow, use lots of lube. I like being on top, but being taken from behind is incredible and still gives you a bit of control.

We found harness briefs to be more effective than a harness with straps but we have now moved on to a strapless strap-on still held in place by the harness briefs. This gives a really firm location (inside my wife) for the dildo and allows the full movement to transfer from my wife to me. Normal harnesses and harness briefs have some stretch in them and some motion is lost.
