I recently joined the gym and the last couple of times have had a shower before leaving rather than when I get home.
No it may be the “norm” but to me it seems strange. But what is with guys waking round the changing rooms butt naked just chatting away to people.
For me this seems strange. Is it just an ego thing that guys subconsciously take part in? Are women’s changing rooms the same or as I say is it just a “lads ego” thing going on. Or is it just the done thing? I tend to wear my boxers to and from the shower. Don’t get me wrong. Each to their own. But to me it just seems unnecessary?
So I’ve joined a different gym this year and not used the shower/change facilities yet. When I was a member at Pure, I’d say it’s pretty similar for girls.
We do just walk around with boobs out, we’re not embarrassed, we’re just there getting changed
I have been a gym goer 3 - 4x a week for 25 years, at multiple gyms both here in the UK and in America when I lived there. I have never been to a place where guys just walk around naked.
The norm seems to be get undressed, don’t tie yourself in knots trying to hide (think the towel shuffle on the beach ), but most wrap a towel round their waist when walking to / from the shower. Once your boxers are on post shower then most people are quite comfortable.
I have used various gyms over the years, and swimming pools. Also play squash. For me its the norm to be naked in changing rooms. I hate ‘village’ or mixed changing rooms.
I like just being free really.
I also think we are now getting to a place where the only bodies people will see are perfect or unrealistic ones online, in porn.
I have never wrapoed myself in a towel before the showers - you then put your sweat on your clean towel?!?
Yes this seems quite the norm but I too find it weird in that environment to just parade yourself. One time in particular I remember I needed the toilet and the big mirrors were in that area. A guy in his 50’s stood there completely naked no towel or anything and was casually shaving his face I went past not sure I I pulled a face as I was quite shocked by it, as I went passed not trying to check him out I could see that he was resting his balls on the side of the sink which I thought was gross
Thankfully in the gym’s I’ve used before it’s single sex changing rooms and so, pleasingly, in the women’s, I’ve never experienced men walking about naked. I’ve always adopted the mid ground in the women’s I think. Towel wrapped around from shower to locker, then naked to change but staying fairly within my locker adjacent area. You get some people doing the awkward towel shuffle to not expose anything and others happy naked wondering about but in my experience, in the UK, that’s not overly common.
Following on from my previous comments i tember once being in a changing room just getting dresded on a bench when a woman came just sat on the bench totally naked and startrd to wipe with her legs wide opened with the biggest bush i had ever seen i wss totally gobsmacked
In high school I played several sports and after practice the normal was to hit the showers . It was pretty normal to have a bunch of naked guys racing to get a shower in and get out quickly . Later when I was into body building and using serious gyms , walking around naked in the shower room was totally normal . I did try out several gyms that were for people a bit less serious about actually working out and those were often where people seemed to be a bit more reserved . Come to think of it , maybe that’s why I am so comfortable at a nudist camp ?
Sports when you’re part of a team and there is camaraderie between team mates kid logical. I just don’t understand changing room nakedness, in the right environments certain clubs where everyone talking part is doing the same thing, but also gyms where people are serious probably showing off male ego etc if they do comps they wear very little anyway so won’t bother them.
Same at my gym.
I hate it and always have done. I wrap in a towel and put my boxers on as quick as possible.
I don’t care who has the biggest, just stop waving it around the changing rooms and it you are naked, don’t talk to me.
I wish it was more like swimming pool changing rooms with cubicles.
I think you may be right on a small portion of the guys , but mostly just like nudist camp you are comfortable with the human form in all shapes and sizes or you are not .
From what I’ve heard it happens in ladies changing rooms too and I sense it’s a British thing as if you got to somewhere in Europe they all tend to embrace their nakedness and freely walk around nude
I play group sports and some dudes have no shame, others want nothing to do with it and never shower and everyone else is in between.
I shower but have some modesty.
For me my mind goes here:
I pack a decent sized dick but there are dudes in there with some monster cocks. As a dude, you know when you see a flaccid dick that it would be a gigantic member when fully erect. No one is walking around with a hard on but I know each one and their families and I think of that guy’s poor wife having to take a 10-12" rod every time. And these aren’t attractive dudes…not Hollywood quality by any means. Shame as they likely could have made a mint somewhere with these absolutely ginormous dicks. Then there is the guy with a super tiny member… feel for him too.
But there is always that one dude though who is more than happy for you to see everything he has. Usually an older, balding man with no social skills (not profiling just who this guy is in my specific room…lol)
American checking in: over the last 20ish years of going to various gyms in multiple cities here in the states, I feel like it may be a generational thing, with the older guys being more accustomed to being fully nude in the locker room. Just the other day I went to grab my jacket from a locker and an older man was completely in the buff, whereas I would typically use a towel to cover myself up when going to and from the lockers and the shower, and either quickly put on/take off my underwear at the locker or over by the shower.
When I went to the gym, people wouldn’t be naked but would walk around in their underwear. I wouldn’t have been naked unless I was the only one there, doing the towel shuffle is so time consuming when you’re in a hurry!
