I think it takes courage to embrace not only the light on the road of your past but the darkness as well. It’s the darkness that challenges us and makes us grow. When you share the darkness of your past with others, you can shed a lot of light on their road.

I am happy you were able to move past the pain and find the possible benefits of helping others. I’m pretty sure there are more than a few people on here who have similar experiences that could benefit from what you’ve learned. I know of one who peeks over my shoulder every now and then but won’t make her own account, as an example. (But she does take her own therapies, classes and certifications and wants to help others as well.)

That road? Is “The Adversity Quotient,” as it were. Just worded in my own vernacular.

(If you haven’t read that yet look it up on Amazo, as I think from past posts you might like it).

I spoilt my girlfriend on Valentine’s Day, and we just got back from a really nice meal out at our favourite restaurant.

Starting about a week ago a friend that lives 1,100 miles away started having more medical problems . He has no family or friends that live near him . He already has several major medical problems and multiple specialty doctors . He was having anxiety attacks , pure panic attacks . He was telling me what little each was telling him and I was trying to assess his current problems . I managed to calm him down several times . Yesterday he saw two specialists and then he texted me their paperwork . He was surprised that their findings alined with everything I had told him before many of the tests . BTW , we were firefighters in the mid 80s . More tests today and if the diagnosis concours with what I think and several of the doctors , he may get better fairly soon . The feeling I get from helping a good friend when the medical community is failing is a cross between elation and anger . I did the same for a neighbor that was fighting cancer a little over a year ago . She had her first chemo and they ill prepared her for what she should do and would experience . Another neighbor drove her home from the treatment and she was having very bad reactions and then a full blown panic attack . Neighbor that drove her came to get me and I came over and talked her through what was happening and got her calmed down which is a big part of the battle . Called her doctor and learned a few items I did not know . Got her sorted and relaxed in maybe 15-20 minutes . Told her to let me know when her next treatment was going to be so I could be home if she needed me . The second time went much better and she thanked me again and said that my voice and having me there gave her comfort . The feeling I get from helping people makes me warm inside . It falls in line with my motto that I am NOT wasting air .

I booked flights, hotel and event tickets for myself and my Son to visit a University he is interested in attending next year.

Maybe small to others but for me its a major achievement doing this unaided.

My Son was impressed and stopped me before I headed to bed last night to say “Mum I love you”.

Absolutely made my day.

Its great to sort things out yourself. He must be looking a long way from home if flights are involved. What does he want to study? Good luck to him. I hope you are well and doing ok. @The_Little_Ladybird

@steve19 Glasgow is definitely a long way from South Wales. But Im happy that he seems to have found a course that suits his interests.

I have changed so much. I used to worry if he was just out with friends of an afternoon, now Im encouraging this move.

I want him to have a big life full of experiences.

Glasgow is meant to be a wonderful place, although I have never been there. I suspect a little more diverse than South Wales. Hopefully he is happy being so far away from you. I bet its about 7 or 8 hours on the train. Good luck @The_Little_Ladybird

For valentines and random acts of kindness day our local arts centre leaves hundreds of little handmade clay hearts around the town for people to find and keep, I didn’t think I was going to find one this year but I was almost home (a little way out of main town) and I spotted one! Lovely little smile making gesture

Yesterday was my birthday and I had a number of things I needed to do . I had to do a bit of driving and as usual this time of the year it was raining and traffic was a bit much . Along with people seemed to be in a competition for who could be the worst driver , multiple drivers earned my vote . We had talked about going out to dinner for the first time in over three years , but I could tell she would not be up for it . So I drove to a butcher , custom meat shop and bought several tenderloin steaks . Picked up a prescription for my wife . Relaxed for a bit late in the afternoon . Then started preparing dinner . Everything turned out perfect . We talked a bit and could tell she was feeling a bit better . Then she fell asleep . I watched several shows and figured that was my birthday . She woke up and I stripped for bed and talked to her some more and asked how she thought my third use of home laser was coming along ? She cupped my balls and felt around my cock where I had applied the laser . She thought it was working OK . She was applying lotion to her legs and decided my joystick could use some lotion worked in . After a bit of caressing each other she said I want to at least give you a birthday blowjob . So I cleaned off my privates of lotion and she went and cleaned up a bit . Then both pets got kicked out of bedroom and after turning the lights off we had a bit of fun . For those that do not know , she has been 99% inactive for many years and hates that she is heavy . After my first blowjob in many years I convinced her to take her panties off and rubbed her to several orgasms . I licked whip cream off her nipples and we talked about sex for some time . Best birthday in YEARS !
