Which wax?

Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place, I just wanted to know which is the best intimate wax to get done - I mainly wear thongs and can't decide whether to go brazilian or hollywood. As it is, I' already have a very waxed bikini line at front and usually trimmed below (just easier when you live at the beach) but nowheere near a brazilian and I just wondered what the general view is.Part of me is tempted to surprise the OH with hollywood but really cant decide

Thanks

Brazillian is just a landing strip. Hollywood is everything waxed off. So only you can decide for yourself whichever you'd prefer!

Thanks - its v difficult to choose.

If you're used to having some hair then a Hollywood may be a bit of a shock. For that reason I'd suggesting getting a Brazilian this time around and see how you feel about having less hair than usual.

In my experience administering waxing both Brazilian and Hollywood, the latter hurts a lot more and tends to carry with it s lot more skin irritation as the pubic hairs above the vagina tend to be more coarse and get ingrown more frequently. This can be avoided by good exfoliation but you have to be dedicated. Personally I like both but my favorite is leaving a good amount of hair above the clit so that she looks like a mature woman but all the important bits are completely bare.

I've been having a brazilian sugaring for a year now with a landing strip in a triangle shape. As I'm getting used now (I mean it doesn't hurt as much anymore), next time I'll go for a Hollywood, but I'm keeping the landing strip as the completely bare look is a bit strange for me (maybe because of my c-section scar?!) - the landing strip disguises a bit.

You could try a Brazilian and if you want more off go for the Hollywood next time. It would be easier taking more off than waiting for it to grow back.

I have had all taken off (I thought it was called a Brazillian but i guess I am mistaken!) and yes I was pretty damn smooth at the end of it!

It was definitely more painful than a bikini wax, especially around the labia, but the pain is very quick and once the strip was off I found that just a few seconds later the pain had dulled to almost nothing.

One of the big things for me was that I found the ingrown hairs a nightmare, It was ultimately what got me to change back to shaving.

Thanks for that - I actually hadn't considered my c-section scar which isn't that bad given they went in twice, but something to factor in.

The thought of the pain is what is holding me back - I am a total wimp. And perhaps what bothers me more than the idea of the pain, is dreaded ingrown hairs or the dreaded itch when it starts coming back. As is I have my bikini line waxed and have a special trimmer for 'down there', so it's always well groomed.

All these comments/tips and thoughts have made me opt for a Brazilian.

All off. Gradually reduced how much I left until got to the point where I decided to try being completely smooth and I liked it.

My sis lives in the states and she says most of her friends there have gone that way.....Not sure how much time they spend discussing the topic lol.

Entirely your (or your OH!) preference!

As someone else has said try a Brazilian first and if you want to go for a Hollywood you can always just trim shave the strip away.

My OH had this dilemma. Her waxer said it would hurt more for a hollywood so went with the Brazilian and subsequently removed a little more each time to ease her into it.
And she said the full hollywood hurt a lot the first time around the labia but isn't so bad now it is a regular event

defo a hollywood. once you try you will never go back. look for a salon that does lycon hot wax this is by far the best on the market. it uses an oil on the skin then the wax is applied over the top (the oil acts as a sheild on the skin) the wax is then removed straight off the skin ( no strips). due to the oil protecting the skin it has less skin irritation and is 50% less painful. i have used this on my customers for years now and specialise in intimate waxing. it may hurt the first few times but gets easier every time make sure to have it done every 4 weeks. lycon also have a product called ingrowin xit, it wont stop ingrowing hairs totaly but it is fab and will reduce them also use an exfoliator 2 times a week to help prevent them. any other questions please ask.

Thanks so much for this - the insider's tips are excellent. I will definitely look into it and check for a salon with lycon hot wax.

It doesn't have to be Lycon hot wax, most good quality hot or warm hard waxes, properly applied use an oil lipid barrier to prevent the wax adhering to the skin. I have tried a wide range of hot and warm waxes and to be honest they vary greatly in temp and hardness, and ease of application. The best wax is the one your therapist is most proficient with. sugaring is also good, especially for the bakini area as it is good at grabbing really small hairs and causes less skin irritation because of the direction of hair removal. Can be tricky to use though so again, find someone that knows what they are doing!
