I'm thinking of having my pubic hair waxed off but not sure whether to go for Brazillian or Hollywood. At the moment i only get the sides and top waxed and i trim the bush right down, but would really like to be smooth down below. Not sure if i could take the pain though!

I recently got my first Brazillian, and although I don't really like it (I will probably go for somewhere between a brazillian and regular bikini line next) I didn't find it painful. The beautician did mention that my hair came out quickly and easily as its quite fine though. She also said that a Brazillian normally includes the lips (which I didn't go for, an aesthetic choice not pain-related), which would be the most likely part to hurt, so I don't think a Brazillian is neccessarily less painful than a Hollywood. Exactly what a Brazillian is seems to depend on where you get it done too. I would advise going to the salon, getting it done down to a small patch, then depending on if you found that painful or not you can decide there whether to get the rest taken off. I really don't have much experience, but hoped I helped a bit.
Thanks libralover, my hair is quite dense and strong so would probably hurt! I'm veering more towards a Brazillian too as I do prefer some hair there. Maybe I'll start like you and not get the lips done.
My wife has recently gone for the Hollywood,she took a couple of painkillers before she went to waxers.It hurt no more than a normal wax,but she and i are loving the results,well worth the extra bit of waxing.P.S. according to the waxer,it gets easier the more you have it done.
I always go for the Hollywood, I have been waxing for years and personally I don't find it too painful and you do get used to it over time. The hair gets finer and easier to come out over time too. I've never needed painkillers but if you are worried about the pain go for them, I know there is also a numbing cream you can use, it numbs the skin so you won't feel the pain, here in Greece its called Emla and you can get it over the counter, perhaps ask your doctor or pharmacist :)
Hiya i agree with VCh. I started off like you getting the sides and the top trimmed and then i met my bf. He liked to give me oral and didnt mind the hair but i though i would surprise him and get a brazillian. At that point i perfered just 'tidying' but in all honesty i think brazillian is the way to go. my OH loved it so i though for our holiday i would get a hollywood. he loved that even more but i didnt. personally i felt too childish with everything gone.
I like the feel of being smooth on the lips for personal play and my OH perfers it for oral. It does also make cleaning up alot easier and more hygenic without meaning to sound gross. I have a fairly high pain threshold and have been getting my underarms and legs waxed for years, but i will say the lips do hurt the first few times you get them done. After a few times though the hair is finer and comes out easier so doesnt hurt as much.
My advise the brazillian is a nice mix of tidy without the childish pornstar no hair look that it sounds like you might not be a fan of. beware though if you go down the waxing route and start making the hairs finer and fewer dont be tempted to shave. shaving increases the thickness of hairs and makes them grow quicker. i made that mistake with my legs :(
either way good luck 20mins of pain will mean youll be nice and smooth for 4 weeks and the pain reduces each time :)

I thought I had a high pain threshold..... Until I got my bits waxed 
I shaved all of my own off when I was 20 and I've never looked back. Was a bit of work - the first shave but now I just shave it as it comes in. I've always found that men find it such a turn on, especially my hubby. I used plenty of shave foam and just took my time the first time.
I have had a brazillian wax for quite a few years now i love it. its that painful. make sure you find a salon thats uses brazillian or hard wax (stripless wax) its a lot less painful than strip wax. its also a lot safer to use on your sensitive parts. a good wax would also include your anus. i had a wax once where she didn't do the anus area and it was wierd having no hair on your labia and a hairy bum hole.
it might be worth having a look on you tube to see what you're getting.
yeah good call Saucey21. the stripless was is so much less painfull, most salons will charge a bit more for it, but it is worth it. It can also get the hairs that are smaller which meas you dont have to wait so long between waxing.
And if it makes you feel any better i couldnt get an appointment for a brazllian this week in preparation for a sexy weekender, so i had to resort to my epillator. That killed, im fine using it on my underarms legs and bikini line but trying to do anything more intimate like brazillian/hollywood is painful. If anyone out there is able to epillate a hollywood i salute you. Also do you have any tips on pain management for epillation :)
Ive brought a epillator yet never managed the pain enough to use it god knows what im doing wrong.
Never the less ive shaved all off ever since it grew n have never really looked back, I do sometimes just shave once a week just to give my skin a break but that doesn't exactly mean it grows loads ..
Hairs not 4 me, if i could afford it id go for lazer removal
The skin numbing cream could work. You put it on and leave it (must not come into contact with clothes as they will absorb it, best would be to wrap area in plastic wrap but i can see how that could be hard on the bikini area :P) and after 30-60 min you rince it off and it should stay numb for about an hour :)
Yeah lazer removal would be the best solution but it's so darn expencive! And it doesn't work as well if you have fair and thin hair (as i do :( )

Pull the skin tight, I did eppilate for a while but started to get a lot of ingrown hairs which were painful and looked awful so stopped (this was under arms btw)
I shaved it all off for the first ever time on Sunday! My FB loved it but I found it just weird, felt all naked and like a hairless little girl. The sensation on newly shaved skin was lovely I must admit, but not worth the shaving rash I've now got! I think waxing and a Brazillian might be the way forward if I continue to shape my topiary...

Definitely go for a wax option - the pain isnt all that bad at all. This is coming from someone who has pretty thick and coarse hair and I used to shave for about 7 years prior to my first wax.
If you cant decide between a Brzilian or a Hollywood just flip a coin! After all, the hair DOES grow back
