Impending snip

I was about a week before I did any light exercise gradually building up, was back playing rugby 4 weeks later.

I hope your doctor will give you those instructions post-op, but it you don’t get them, be sure to ask.

i do a lot of exercise including running, cycling, swimming. Doctor told me to leave it two weeks so i didnt open up any of the incisions.

procedure was fine, painless at the time, i was pretty sore after for two days, ice and didnt really move off the sofa. Few pals have had it, some have had my experience, some have been fine with no soreness at all.

For the active no condom sex life without worry of more kids its been more than worth it so dont hesitate getting it!

Had mine done decades ago, but under a general (there was no way I was going to watch while a dude cut my sack with scalpel, but then I’m a wuss like that!). I was pretty sore at first, though my first mistake was getting boxers for the occasion (I should have done briefs for the extra support, I learned later). It took a couple of days before I had a solo session, which was painful on ejaculation but that’s probably because it was still early in recovery. After that first load though, it was just like normal, and you wouldn’t even be able to tell it had been done. Normal erection, normal ejaculate, just no fish in the ocean anymore (although be aware that you could still get your OH pregnant with your first 5 or so shots after your operation, so you’re not in the clear straight away).

My biggest piece of advice would definitely be briefs, NOT boxers. And remember about the bullets still in the chamber.

I’m still to convince my husband to get the snip. He refuses despite me having had over eight surgeries and almost losing my life whilst giving birth to our gorgeous kids. I’ve been on oral contraceptives since I was 14 (not just for contraceptive reasons but medical) and decided a few months back enough was enough.

Suddenly my libido returned with a vengeance and I’ve got my sexual appetite back only we are left having to use condoms as he just won’t go for the op or even ask the gp. I’m a little disappointed…

I’ve asked him so many times and it’s a flat out no …

@FortySomethingWife what is your OH’s objection / concern.
My Husband had his Jan 2020. Done amazing things for our sex life

He says he doesn’t wish to get it done until he’s forty… which seems a little odd.

Had mine done about 34 years ago . Had it done by a specialist and the surgery was quick and almost no pain . Followed the instructions to the letter and had a little swelling for a day or so . Think it was about a week until releasing some cum . Back then I believe it was a month and a half before giving a fresh off the tap sample . I do not think volume changed at all . As a side note , that was my first time shaving my balls and continued ever since .

I know I’m so disappointed - he just won’t budge.

Maybe it’s a “thing”. Mr John is 40 :grinning:

I just wish he’d do it ,
For me …?

I totally understand this.
We used condoms for most of our relationship (21 years this far). The pill has never agreed with me.
We had a scare that I may be pregnant in 2019, at over 40 with a teenager I have no idea what we would have chosen to do. Any option seemed like a bad one for different reasons. I think this spurred us on to think about it.
I think he felt like he did it for us as a family, not just for me (if that makes sense).
I didn’t put him under any pressure, but he did seem motivated himself to get it done.

I don’t want to keep bringing it up either as then it’s pressuring him. But I do feel a bit hard done to after he’s seen all that I’ve been through.

It’s an awkward conversation to have, I accompanied my mr to the GP and she told me to leave the room whilst she asked him if I’d pressured him into it!! When he told her it was his idea she smiled and let me back in. My husband said it would’ve been made better if the surgeon hadn’t been talking about love island whilst doing it :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

It took me 16 days to get my wife pregnant…twice. condoms are a bit of a kill joy and the only time we ditched contraception she got pregnant in the blink of an eye.

Only problem is it’s been nearly 4 months since the call to the doctors and nothing because of COVID. I’m eager to get it over and done

I had mine done Feb 5th this year! I honestly just laid there having a chit chat with the doctor and the assistant nurse.

The local anesthetic made it completely pain free. Tight fitted briefs and loose joggers afterwards. They say a couple days and you can go back to office work. No heavy work for 14 days. No sex or solo play for 10 days after but sooner if you really feel fine… Then you send a sample in the post after 16 weeks and you have to ejaculate 32 times in that period (piece of cake!).

Everything was explained very clearly and was generally pain free. I had some strong aching after a few days but painkillers and rest fixed it. More uncomfortable than painful.

I’m stupidly squeamish always have been … has anyone else had pushback about having it done under general?

Hi I had my vasectomy years ago was back at work the next day no pain just a dull ache, and the letter you get telling you to cum as often as possible before the sperm tests I still have ( keep typexing the date :joy::joy:) never looked back.

Perhaps a silly question, but what is the ejaculation like afterwards? Does it still look, feel, even taste the same?
